Ctrl+click the type layer and then put the stroke in a new layer on top. This way you can still edit the type.

Noooooooooooo don't do this.

Right click text layer --> blending options. Click on stroke. Change it there; you can have either just a single colour, a gradient, or a pattern.

I don't know where any of those buttons are, but I ended up simplifying the layer and just editing > stroke.

I know this is a crap sig, but it is meant to be one of those simple, nothing fancy, team signatures where you just edit the name for the different members.

So from the perspective of one of those signatures, how does it look?

The pixely biohazard symbol looks kinda bad, you should find a higher res version.

What version of photoshop do you have?

Elements 5.0.

The res wasn't the problem; it's probably because I cut out the background and never feathered it or anything.

That's why you can't use the blending options method, It's only in full PS.

You should try to fix that. Best to cut it out before you shrink it down.

It's a picture of some green shit with some more crap over it. You need to work with the picture to make it look better; make it darker, give it depth, just make it more interesting.

Yah, elements kind of sux. ;\

Yes, Status, that is exactly what it is. Darker would be good though. I'm not so worried about it being intresting.

what might you suggest to add depth?

Duplicate layer, put on soft light.

Do this as many times as you can without it starting to look bad. Most likely 2.

Try sharpening it up once or twice.

The best way of getting depth is simply to work with the image a bit. Add some gradient maps and other effects to bring out the foreground.

That is the best one, Still not too good though, Doesn't have much depth, no blending. The facial area looks too sharpened/ lost pixels.
