BUILDING YOUR OWN PC 101:

You will NEED:
- Motherboard
- RAM
- CPU
- Graphics card (GPU)
- Hard drive
- Powersupply
- Tower/Case
- Operating System.

You many WANT:
- DVD/CD/Floppy/Card reader
- Sound card
- Liquid cooling
- Solid State Drive (SSD)
- Other fancy stuff.

!!! PERSONAL OPINION TIME !!!
Minimum specs:
- Motherboard - Anything as long as it can hold an intel I series CPU.
- RAM - 6GB
- CPU - Intel i5 2.7GHz or greater
- Graphics card (GPU) - nVidia 640+ OR ATI Radion 5000 series+
- Hard drive - At least 250GB
- Powersupply - 500W at least 6amps on the 12V line.
- Tower/Case - one that can hold all this shit.
- Operating System - Anything as long as it's 64bit.

Mid-range specs:
- Motherboard - Anything as long as it can hold an intel I series CPU.
- RAM - 8GB
- CPU - Intel i7 2.7GHz or greater
- Graphics card (GPU) - nVidia 660Ti+ OR ATI Radion 6000 series+
- Hard drive - At least 500GB
- Powersupply - 750W at least 6amps on the 12V line.
- Tower/Case - one that can hold all this shit.
- Operating System - Anything as long as it's 64bit.

High specs:
- Motherboard - Anything as long as it can hold an intel I series CPU.
- RAM - 16GB
- CPU - Intel i7 3.0GHz or greater
- Graphics card (GPU) - nVidia 670+ OR ATI Radion 7000 series+
- Hard drive - At least 500GB
- Powersupply - 750W at least 6amps on the 12V line.
- Tower/Case - one that can hold all this shit.
- Operating System - Anything as long as it's 64bit.

If you can't be assed to build one from scratch like me then try a barebones bundle like this. (uk only) They will fit all the complicated shit for you but you still need a GPU and hard drive. [PUPPY]

I personally would try and stay away from AMD CPUs, there nothing but trouble. Also when it comes to RAM don't worry about brand name shit. RAM is RAM.

Actually this is kinda BS even for a personal opinion.

i5 is not a 'min spec' cpu, an i3 will easily handle any game. No specification on the socket for the processor, a 1336 motherboard can hold an 'i7' 1st gen but not 2nd.

6GB? New Intel CPUs use Dual Channel so 6GB is kinda a BS number, 4 or 8.

First of all, 640 GT is BS. Secondly '5000 series' is way too vague. Lets choose 2 random cards, 5450 and 5970, massive difference.

I won't go on ripping the rest to bits, but OP I suggest you to just post on a computer enthusiast forum where you will get accurate help.

^This
I have an i5 2500k cpu, I love the chip. And in fact it beats a lot of the i7 series chips without overclocking it. And it was cheaper, too. ^_^

I can sell you the computer I literally just built for like.... 750.... I wouldn't recommend it unless youre doing ridiculous amounts of rendering or something like that.... If you aren't doing something that requires a lot of resources, you wont need the 8 cores.

I can help you shop around if you want... Putting it together after you get the parts is the easier part.

That would be awesome :>

And yeah I don't do any rendering stuff so I probably wouldn't need the 8 core xD

I know a lot of people like to build custom rigs, but it's actually getting too expensive nowadays. Also, if you don't know what you're doing, a simple mistake can ruin an expensive piece of equipment. I love building computers and putting together random ideas and designs just for fun, but for the sake of potentially saving you a couple bucks and removing most hard work involved in the process, I recommend this pre-built: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6883227439

If that's out of your price range by far, hmu on xfire some evening and I'll gladly walk you through everything and build you a rig from the ground up on a budget. I actually just finished doing that with Slink, who will be able to help you find better deals on equipment based on a lack of bias toward certain brands of hardware...but talk to me about it regardless. Xfire is stonestar2 if you don't have it already. I'm east coast American, so depending on your nationality/time zone which I am not familiar with, it may be a little more difficult to do so. If that's the case, PM me and we'll figure something out there and avoid blowing up the forum notifications with constant conversation.
