I feel that this is an important topic within Battlefield due to the diversity between weapons in this game, plus the crap load of attachments that you can add to your weapon. Also due the fact that they do not have stats of damage/accuracy/rate of fire for each weapon, like they did in Battlefield Bad Company 2.
I am also trying to figure out what best combo attachment for some weapons since there are a diverse range of opinions.
So to get the topic rolling, I just suggest saying what your current favorite weapon is, or just suggesting a weapon you feel has the best advantage on the battlefield, plus some attachments along with it.
Currently I have fallen in love with the UMP-45, mainly because whenever I fell into a 1v1 between someone that had it, i usually got killed instantly. And then when I recently got it, i think it is the weapon i have received the most attachments for in the shortest amount of time. It took me around an hour, or 1.5 hours to earn the laser sight, red dot sight, holo sight, suppressor, flash supp, and the tactical light, which i found outstanding. I haven't earned that many attachments that quick with any of my weapons. In the description when i earned it, it mentioned that it was extremely well in close-quarters match ups, which i find very true. and the small recoil helps me as well.
Another weapon i find extremely helpful is the AEK-971. It has very little recoil, and it shoots extremely fast, basically my favorite weapon for my assualt class, next to the M416, the m16 just has wayyyy too much recoil for me.
For attachments i find that i use the red dot sight (or holo whichever i happen to have), it is just way better than the scopes, which to me take forever to bring up, i always have gotten beaten in a 1v1 when i have a scope on a assualt rifle/sub machine gun. I also use the laser sight mainly to get the hip accuracy bonus, which means i can start shooting at someone while i am bringing up my sights. The blinding also gives me that slight advantage as well, but the light itself giving away my position is great with realism, but sucks for me haha, thats why i usually remember to turn it off if i am being sneaky, or trying to take a flag. I just wish the tactical light had some type of bonus, other wise i would use that. the other final attachment i find myself is the fore-grip, the increased accuracy is a plus. My sights usually stay pretty consistent in the area i want when i am unloading on people. i don't understand why someone would want to put a bi-pod on a assualt rifle, just sounds like a dumb idea...
Ideas about this sort of stuff in BF3 guys?
