Just a quick update. We will be allowing teams of 11 and 12 points to play as well, we don't want to make things too difficult as far as picking teams.
Good luck getting your teams together captains!

The only question I have is if someone's rating increases after a 2 week period or something like that does that make a team invalid due to points? I am only asking because with this rating system people are gonna try to improve to get a higher rating . . .

Good question Sandking. Right now we'll let teams stay together if they improve over time and the rating goes over 13. If this leads to stacked teams then we'll change that.

As for the current teams:

EnDever's team: EnDever, Colby, Hikaru, and Hatter.
Dominator's team: Dominator, Over, Flight, and awaiting the response from Divine.
Lebros' team: Lebros, Jones, AngledStar, and Rav. With Darman and Voxis as subs.
Gletch's team: Gletch, Orvus, RaiderX, and Drinka.
Deity's team: Deity, Swift, Sandking and Fox.
Drift's team: Drift, Narcissus, Phobos, and looking for more.

I will continue to update this list as captains message me with more information about their teams.

We have what, 6 captains? Maybe 7?

At most that means that 28 people max will be picked. What happens to the the 33 people, the majority, who weren't picked? do they form their own teams? Thats a majority of the people who signed up for a tournament who will not actually ever play in the tournament. I'm sure some will be asked to sub on occasion, but there is no need for 33 subs in a 28 person tourney. What are some ways to maximize the number of players that get picked onto teams?

Maybe have each team pick six players maybe totaling points of 17, and the teams can field four of those six players each match, having subs built into the team. You would also need a rule making sure all the subs got some playing time as well, but it would be one way to get more people involved and on teams. Or try to recruit some new captains from people who haven't been picked yet.

This tournament has lots of support but the majority of the players are not actually involved yet, and stand little chance of being included. I think a few captains should think about this idea or something like it to try to use the players avaliable.
This is the most people who have signed up for any type of repcom event in recent memory, make the most of it.

Feel free to xfire me if you want me to clarify smthin

This isn't a tournament.

I have been pushing for 4 starters and 2 subs for a while now. Though, the two subs should be able to replace people on the team without going over the point limit during a match.

Poor choice of words on my part. I wasnt sure what else to call it.
Nonetheless, my point is the same. People signed up to be put on teams and play, not to have a small shot at subbing once in a while.

Fantastic! Why hasn't this been done yet? All we need are a few basic rules to make sure teams don't game the system and that everyone gets to play. I think if anyone else has ideas to make sure as many people as possible actually get put on teams, now's the time. The more people we can get on teams the better, and the current ratio of people on teams to people signed up (15 out of 61 by my count) just is not going to cut it.

These teams and this point system is just disappointing. I would've divided people into 4 different levels of skill. Best would be captains and get to pick one from each lower level. If there are extra people some judgment and 1on1's would solve the problem.

Yeah, were gonna see how it goes tomorrow...bracket style is what I was thinking too, I was talking to raider and depending on how it goes we were thinking that we should just put teams together. That way everyones on a team, and we have more teams...win win situation, and teams would have more than 4 so higher chance of a team having enough members on at once.

The team picking process has been frustrating to say the least. Some captains are giving up on finding players and just joining the same team as other captains, while others refuse to give up on trying to contact a wanted team member. There have been a number of large scrims within the last few days, so there are obviously enough players to get some competitive 4v4 teams made. However, it can be tricky making teams of 13 with people you like to play with. Even trickier is finding those players and convincing them to commit to your team.

I'm thinking we might just have to assign teams if captains can't get ahold of their desired players. Of course, this week is just a test, so some things are bound to go wrong.

My only concerns with assigning teams is 1) players being unhappy with their team and 2) players getting on at different times than their team. However, I feel I can trust the players I intend to allow to pick teams to take this into account. Anyways, goodluck in the matches tomorrow, I hope everyone has a good time!

Trust me Drinka, I would love for it to be done that simply, but there are plenty of players that would be 4's in that system that would want to play yet refuse to be captains. Just the same as plenty of players are not wanting to in this system. I wanted to let people have freedom in choosing their teams (only being limited by points) but it would seem that getting other players to be captains and then having them find players for their team is harder than it seems.
In no means are we giving up on this system, but if there aren't more full teams and matches being played by the end of tomorrow, then I think we'll just start assigning teams. For team assigning we'll have 6 people per team (4 players and 2 subs); seeing as this was initially intended, but no one could find the players to fill their team as subs.

Well, I have my team ready...

I think we should go through the player list and see how many people are actually going to be actively participating before we start assigning people to teams. Though, you probably already thought of this while I was gone lol.
