as hardware developers make things more to be compatible with Vista and less with xp, you'll be forced to eventually

didnt they plan to release the new win in 2010 ? so no need for vista the new win is not based on xp anymore like vista ...

Are you wrong informed or something?

Windows Vista is a completely new developed Windows. It's not based on XP, which is based on Win2000.

And the new Windows 7 will be based on Vista although it will have some new features, but it won't be a complete new development like Vista was compared to XP.
