Anyone realize that my server has appeared to be offline for much of the past few days? There's a reason for this, and it's not because I have taken it offline. I myself, had no idea why the servers were not functioning. Then Birdie(I'm assuming you know who this is) added me on xfire.

He explained to me that he had been taking my server offline through DoS attack (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial-of-service_attack). He was doing this because he wanted the password to my server(or something to that extent) and stated he would not stop until I had relented to his wishes. I refused his request, and he has proceeded to attack my internet through DoS. To be completely honest, I did not know what DoS was until this occurred. I had complete loss of internet connection to my house for hours, before I'm assuming the attack subsided and I got my internet back for a period of time.

Anyway, I find it incredibly sad and pathetic that someone would pull something like this.. over a video game. This attack on my internet did not only effect me, but my entire family of six. I'm really only posting this to give you guys a heads up, because I personally had no clue such a thing could be done until I experienced it for myself.

If any of you have him on xfire, I would strongly encourage removing him. This kind of behavior does not belong in our community, no matter how dead it may be.

p.s. He has some sort of program that he can use to easily find your IP. I'm not sure what it is exactly, but it was capable of finding my IP address through an xfire conversation. Once he has your IP Address, he can subject you to these kinds of internet attacks.

Honestly dude that is the most pathetic thing I've ever heard. I realized the pass was changed, but I honestly don't need it. Thanks for telling us, maybe he might comment on here and explain himself maturely.

This is just sad...I'm sorry to hear this man, you try to keep the game alive with your servers and this guy is just messing around. Probably he even can't rly hack like all this Anonymous guys, I guess he only has a programm where he only has to type the IP...

Little tip: Shut your router down for a minute, after restarting it you got a new IP, if he knows only your IP and is not goin on your dns-hostname it's a good solution (but sadly only for a short time)

LOIC is even below script kiddie.

Not cool :(

Btw, you should contact your ISP so they are aware you are being attacked, and can work towards stopping it. Also, if you don't tell them, they may end up pulling your service to protect their network.

I have contacted my ISP, and my IP is changed. I shouldn't have any more issues unless he somehow gets my IP again.

Is there anyway/anywhere I can report Birdie for doing this? Is it even possible to prove that he did it? Normally I'm not that kind of guy, but I really don't want him to get away with doing this. Especially if hes doing it to other people.

As I told slink before, unless he's hitting a big corporate site, nothing will happen.

Get the IP changed to RnR.... if possible. That way he may not be able to DDOS if we actually keep the server private.

Would have thought even AOWC could handle a single DOS.

Post subject:  Re: Birdie

AOWC has a policy of nullrouting servers that are attacked.

I talked to RC * on TS about such a thing, and he said Birdie has 1-4 VPS's that he has bridged the network somehow, and he is using scripts such as udp unicorn, xerxes, and standard DOS scripts available everywhere. Not to mention him and * trying to spread botnets somehow.

Mom told me that he was capable of 50gbps attacks which seems like an exaggeration.

If you are being ddosed just try to change your dns settings in your router and point it to birdies ip in one of the above posts. It will run through your router back to birdie. (Reflection effect)

however it is questionable if that is legal, as technically it is re Dos'ing

EDIT:
Removed a person as they were not in on it, just informing what was happening (innocent bystander)
JS. And GL

JS. And GL

In the US, DDOSing is considered illegal. However, I don't think they necessarily care unless its an important government related person or website. Chances are you wouldnt get into trouble for doing this.

Everything should be alright as alright can be from here on out. My apologies for such a juvenile act, not to mention all the while, you're donating your time and money for a RepCom IP.

If AOWC/ISP are worth anything, they will be reporting the DoS to his VPS providers who would instantly terminate his service.
