 Post subject: Computer Problems

well my computer hasnt worked since sunday (3 days ago).
i press the power button and it acts like its going to start, but windows xp never comes up, and my screen stays black.
does anyone have any ideas? i dont really know what to do... and i cant get my new one for about a month or 2.

its not my monitor because a screen pops up right before windows starts up, just like always. but its like windows isnt starting or something...

egh, look:

1) open up your PC, see if there this anything loose or shorting out or on fire. On fire is bad.
2) try a system restore, should be like F11 or F12 at startup.
3) if none of that works re-install windows.

also a pic of what's happening would also be nice. =/

Does reinstalling windows erase everything? I have a lot of stuff I would rather not lose because it will take a while to get it all back.

new windows move your old windows into a map called Windows.old so you can always get the stuff back from there. not sure it always does that... but just make backups! :?

If nothing is working

BIOs -->> clean your HD -->> install Windows again -->> Stop clicking on Junkmails and Spyware.


Or maybe it's just the mainboard ? i heard some of the cheaper ASRock stuff got problems with the Booting...

But doing a system restore or reinstalling windows loses all my documents and crap?
