Dude... I listed my problems with your attitude, but banning me !on purpose! was NOT on that list. I am well aware it was a side effect of your anti-troll measures.

You pretty much started flaming when a douche showed up and shut down servers. Instead of developing safety tools you spent your time "trolling" because "you can". Look at Jedi Academy for example, admins in that game perfected security to the maximum. They can freeze individual players and "sit them down' no problem.
What do we have here? Server crashes, capacity locks at 0/16, accidental bans etc.

I usually played like 3 hours a week on pubs but didn't really notice any decrease in the amount of trollfags after the range ban... Jb did actually disappear but the wannabees man.... the wannabees.

There wasn't a better way to remove trolls. CD Key ban isn't possible here, JK2 is based on a different engine, there was lots more possible things admins could do there. RepCom is based on a quite crappy version of the Unreal Engine and quite a lot of stuff was removed by the developers of the game. Add to that the lack of modding talent in the community, there was nothing other than IP and IP range bans available to me. CD key bans were a no go, the game doesn't run online authenticated profiles, you can't pull up local system information either (well actually someone managed that for Unreal 99 but the coding is insanely advanced but repcom doesen't even have proper server actor support so it was likely not going to be possible to port it to repcom).

By the way, the times I was like "okay this is bullshit" and shut down servers was because they were being ruined. By ruined I mean just 24/7 teamkilling, spam in chat every 0.1 seconds for 15 minutes etc. They were shut down while I added IP bans, ranges etc for the troublemakers. If you are thinking I shut down servers every day you are wrong, it was maybe sometimes daily but usually only for 5-10 minutes. Other times, it would be a longer shutdown for Windows Updates, or because I need to do something else on the server that required a restart.

Of course, this was not always my number one priority, but I would rather these kids have no fun than get to teamkill an entire server and then add the bans in a few hours then let them ruin the servers. My logic here is that the community would think "Oh the servers are down for a bit... no problem" rather than "Look at these fucking kids ruining the game and the admin is doing nothing about it, no point playing this game anymore is there then?".

By the end of repcom, I had been successful in removing the three main trolls. JB, Linda and Your_god. Next on my list was Excalibur... unfortunately GameSpy ended before I had the chance.

Yes, I know of the unfortunate obstacles in the engine... at some point tho killer came close to making a freezing script as I remember, and the linda fag used character model "rotation" so we were close to the solution.
I'm just sad the community couldn't put more effort into it and rather created more efficient trolling weapons.
Just don't feed the trolls (Sorry for the trolling btw, wanted to demonstrate the sheer pointlessness of playing the game of trolls just don't accept the rules set up by assholes)

The game isn't quite dead yet actually, we still have privs and maybe we'll get a less crappy version of gameranger.
