Or instead of having set teams, just pick teams like we always do but use the ranking system. I honestly don't know how set teams could work, we have to remember that although we all still play, this game is far from being as active as it was back in the day. I have to agree with danny on that one.

Venom tried this with tournament. Venom offered money for people to play. People didn't join Venom's good idea tournaments. Venom hates you all.

Also, Venom has tournament script if needed.

If we are going to do it by clans, why not have it so that it is like sport in which subs can be made and players can be changed even though it is still the same team. ( i.e the team being RC or TX)

Im down for this and since its christmas and a few more people will be onm should probably get this going :)

Truth, were not gonna do this by clans...that's the format that's always been used in the past, and it wouldn't be fair for smaller clans who don't have a) as many players as bigger clans, and b) who don't have as many skilled players as the bigger clans. But I agree our only chance to get this going is doing it now over Christmas break, because of the activity like you said. I'm with raider on having set teams because of the competitive aspect, mixed scrims can be competitive...but more times than not it isn't. Different gametypes like assault, koth, snd, tdm will also help with that, but I believe having teams by the ranking system will be our best shot at it. I'd say were gonna need to make a signup for all the players interested in playing, and then start ranking everyone and creating teams. As far as how were gonna pick teams, depending on how many people sign up and how many teams there are, I think we should do a draft format. Anyone who's familiar with the NFL draft something like that, where we select players by round abiding to the players rankings.

Edit: Regarding the server issue, WOC also has a few servers if they're willing to let us use them..which I think they will, since im assuming there will be multiple participants from WOC.

I'll set aside some cash this holiday for some servers for about 6 months.

I don't know if anyone cares, but I would gladly help organize the statistic tracking system for this if everyone is willing to report matches. The idea reminds me of a more sophisticated version of my grab bag tournament I ran early this year. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4763&hilit=grab+bag
I can easily get that tournament system running again if you all would like.

Let's do this sounds good ! [hi]

BUT

''It would consist of a player ranking system of 1-5. It will be ranked by Dever, Pariah and Jones ''
Tbh three euro players are missing from that giving rank position,I wouldn't count on Dever's, Pariah's and (Jone's) knowledge about european players and their skill.

Thinking about this, I'm going to say that I've realized that this idea is gonna get some awesome support at first. We'll be active through winter break and then we'll all go inactive again.
If not that, someone is going to be butthurt over their 1-5 rank and start shit with people.

I'm looking forward to the execution on this, though.

That would be awesome Venom! I don't know too much about running tournaments, if you'd like to be in charge of that portion of this then feel free!

For the euro's that want to play in the US competitive scrimms, Dever, Pariah, and Jones all probably know your skill level as long as you've played US scrimms previously. If you want to duplicate this system for Euro scrimms, by all means feel free to do so. I am far from the most knowledgeable player in this community for Euro scrimms, so I wouldn't have any idea as far as who to pick for ranking players. You can post more about this on the TX site if you'd like; Jones created the topic for it, there's definitely a lot more Euros over there.

Couldn't have explained that better myself Dever, and as far as servers go things seem to be looking good. I talked to both Deity and AngledStar yesterday about it and they both support the idea. Deity said he could get his second server back up and running if we needed it, and AngledStar said he would be happy to let us use the WoC private servers as long as a WoC member is on to set it.

Thanks for the feedback guys, let's keep this moving!

I don't mean to be ignorant, but there might be a reason as to why Raider mentioned US players only. I, personally, don't have a problem with Euro players, but there always seems to be problems when we bring Euros and US players together... Someone always tends to disagree on the server and shit starts to go down. If anything, it's best that we keep the groups non-mixed unless there is a non-bitching agreement.
Anything else should also be held on a site that is not related or attached to any clan's website, because that seemed to spark some problems, too.

Now if you all will excuse me I'm gonna go get bent over by this accounting final.

Well Venom there are plenty of Euros that are completely fine to play with in US scrimms. However, I know what you're talking about and I wouldn't like that to be a problem with the competitive matches. Also, I'm not sure if Euros would be happy with their rankings, seeing as their ping on Euro servers is much better than it is on US server. I can think of several Euro players that I've played with even just in the last week that would probably be fine with this but it's definitely something to think about when considering Euros in the US matches.
