windows 7 and vista are two different worlds. windows 7 works, windows vista hardly. windows 7 is fuckin damn fast (it took me not even 2 minutes to install cod4), windows vista 64 not (took me about 20-25 minutes). windows 7 is smart, the explorer-handling is much better, the taskbar and tab handling is just awesome. no more problems with a huge icon tray in the taskbar. no more problems with stupid security-alerts and shit and stupid textballons that pop up in vista. No more problems with ''admin''- and useraccount-rights (that was the worst thing of all in vista).

Well if those points do not convince you i wud just recommend u to give it at least a shot. try it 1 hour and u gonna love it. its like xp: stable, nice and good - just faster and smarter.

Ah and yes the i7 is worth it. At least when u do multitask-operations like 3 different graphic programs open at the same time. its damn fast lol. but ye, i think a cheaper one will do it either.

Get a Celeron D and a 5400rpm IDE drive. That's true speed.

Unless you want to move your PC around while your using it SSD is pointless. More expensive for less memory and it isn't that much faster, well not fast enough for the extra money you have to pay in my opinion.

SSD in laptops, yes. SSD in desktops, no.

just made a test with my WD 1TB 7.200RPM HDD:
Image

average read of about 85 m/s, ssd has 2GB/s ...

Samsung SPC 250GB 7.200RPM:

WD Elements External 500GB (USB) :

BTW:

its only the reading speed, writing speed is much lower...

with the newest generation of SSD Chips, you have 2GB Read and 2GB Write!

I have seen this, i pretty sure i showed it to you, and i'm just saying that if you had loads of regular hard drives it would be just as fast, you just couldn't jump up and down on a trampoline.

Read this: http://www.anandtech.com/storage/showdo ... i=3531&p=1

Bottom line: SSDs don't have much better sequential read/write speeds, but they kill hard disks in terms of random read/write. This is what really matters.

im too lazy to search it in my hardwaremagazines and im pretty sure no one of you can read german, new SSD chips are much faster than normal Magnet Disc-Hard Disc Drives... and they have constantly write/read, new Samsung have 200mb/s Write and Read, my WD 7.200 has 35mb/s Write and 85mb/s read
