Replace the 8800 GT by a Radeon HD 4850 and get a ASRock X48TurboTwins-WiFi instead of that Asus one with the latest X48 chipset. Then you have the Crossfire option in future.

Also get atleast a 500W power supply. 450W is not enough in future.

Rest of the configuration is alright.

the 450w power supply unit is enought for a quadcore and 2x 8800Ultra in SLI...
sonsi doesnt want to overclock, why X48? (and why asrock, sux)
sonsi doesnt want to play on a 2048x1536 resolution...,why an AMD (ghey) 4850? (never buy AMD card sonsi >.<)

if he needs a better video card, take GTX260, pwns everyone
$352.99

actually, the point is, i dont know what budget sonsi has...so doesnt he...he wants to play cod4 and bf2142 on a good quality with much fps, 8800gt is enough...even enought to play crysis on high, with 2xAA on 1280x1024

Depends what power supply you're talking about. In general you can't say "that much Watt you need" because important are the ampere specifications, esspecially for the 12V line. And even it would work stable, the supply would work on it's borders. And this would result in much less life time.

Trust me, a good 500W (or more) power supply (e.g. from Tagan, Enermax, Corsair...) will help you in your future computer plans. So you won't need to replace it in your new computer.

No one talks about overclokcing. It's just better and that board costs like 20 bucks more, so there is no reason to get the worser one.

X48 chipset is fast, supports every socket 775 CPU and has Crossfire support. The SLI chipset from Nvidia gets too hot and is sometimes not stable with different RAMs.

I really recommend you a X48 or X38 chipset from Intel, since I made really good experience with it. I got much better feedback than e.g. the 650 SLI chipset.

And about the GFX card: The HD 4850 is way faster than the 8800GT, esspecially in high resolutions and high quality settings. And sometime, when it's getting too slow you buy e.g. a next generation Radeon (doesn't need to be a 4850) and you will be able to use Hybrid-Crossfire to push up your graphics performance.

1. im not dumb, i know enough about power supply units...i took a corsair 450W....
2. wow, if he isnt overclocking there is no need to think about the temperature...
3. next gen card = nvidia...maybe im a little nvidia fanboy, but nvidia is just better...and read what he wants to play.. he doenst want to play on a 30" LCD with 16x CSAA...

stop discussing vash, we even doesnt know how much money he wants to spend...
my config is just perfect for the little wallet...no OC, no 30" lcd

I didn't say that you're dumb. I just try to say that you will have more fun in future if you aim for a 500W one, even because it's not really more expensive....

Why not choosing the better chipset? I don't get it ...
And yes, the Nvidia chipset is much hotter than the others ... it can get unstable. And I heared about problems of some SLI boards with the new Wolfdale and Yorkfield CPUs. (That's why Nvidia is releasing a new chipset soon)

Yes in the high end section, Nvidia is better. Their Gefore 200 series kick ass.
But we don't talk about them, we talk about the 8800GT which is in fact not as good as the Radeon HD 4850.

Virus, I talk in facts and with my own experience. It's not my goal to work against you. Trust me, it's no bullcrap what I wrote.

q6600
p5n-e sli
8800GT
2gig ram of OCZ (reaper)

No problems, can play every game on high-very high
its not hot...
chipset wont be hot if:
you dont overclock and if you dont take you pc as download server ^^
a high end graphic card on a normal lcd, is like a lambo in america, can drive over 300kph, but only allowed to drive 100kph...

Dude, I didn't say it causes problems. That system is alright.

BUT: If he's gonna buy a completely new computer, he should get a better configuration with the same money.

My suggestion cost almost the same and is way faster and better for future plans.
