Switzerland beat spain, 1-0, quite an upset since Spain was ranked #2 (I think) in the world. I felt that it deserved a topic. Also, concerning world cup, and sports in general, if you don't have cable tv (like me) then you can watch espn sports online here: http://espn.go.com/espn3/index |

I was surprised. Even being down 1-0, I thought Spain was controlling the ball well. Thought they might even come back, but oh well. |

I knew to expect a determined Switzerland defence from Ottmar Hitzfeld, but I didn't expect it to hold off Spain and score a goal. Epic. Spain had good passing around but Switzerland really didn't allow them the space to create many good chances. That said, Spain did have a few and could certainly have done better. On the other hand, Switzerland could have won by two goals. On the whole, a thrilling match. Of all the favoured nations, only Germany gave a convincing display in the first game, as far as I can remember. This will be an interesting tournament. |

Spain had sooo many chances to tie it up and take the lead. Xabi's shot off the crossbar in the 70th minute had me out of my chair. Ill be interested to see how spain rebounds off this upset. |

Better than if my home...area... team won because I would have had to travel far, but this way it should come right near my house. Celtics- They lost yesterday. Coudln't care bout NBA tbh, all I know is there is a bunch of stuck up people in the NBA, more so than Sean Avery World Cup - Mostly all the class rooms at my school have it on. I never really followed soccer, but for the most part, I saw the poor display of fair reffing. |

Well they can still come in first or second in their pool, so its not impossible. It will just be a matter of putting that game behind them. |

I think Spain can rebound and will still do well, even if they don't win the cup. Most other coaches aren't as experienced or defensively solid as Hitzfeld and this loss might make them extra determined to do well, though the high expectations could work against them. |

when i heard that happened, i did not believe it, but then i thought who in the world would lie about something like that. NuclearBoBo wrote: Of all the favoured nations, only Germany gave a convincing display in the first game, as far as I can remember. This will be an interesting tournament. Yup, that's pretty much how it was and is. But, also some of the more weaker countries are making statements saying that the power houses have to do something to advance, and good for them(thinking of the 2-1 Brazil/N.Korea game especially). At least Argentina got it right in their second matchup. And let's not talk about France, they should not have made it into the cup in the first place. This will indeed be interesting. I loved how South Africa's goal keeper got a red card lol. Remember anything can and will happen in soccer! Go Dutch! |
