Guys, you need to take into account that this tournament in an evolving process. With each tourney and game, we learn what works and what doesn't. We have learned from the mistakes and imbalances of the last 2on2 CTF tournament and have tried our best to make sure they aren't an issue this time around. I am all for feedback but i would much prefer if you gave it to us after you have have actually participated in the tourney instead of making a big deal out of it prior. If you really don't like the way something is working, try it first and then let me know, I personally guarantee you that I will take the time to hear you say "I told you so" as long as you need me to listen. Participate, play, give us feedback and most importantly, realize that were are here to improve the game and its relations, not make it frustrating, and annoying.

Looking for a team [hi] [hi] [hi]

I think a tiebreaker match should be avoided, especially with the server location issues. There are plenty of ways to decide it based on the first two games.

Perhaps if the match is tied 1-1 and the flag score totals are also tied, the winner should be decided by adding up the individual player scores. That is almost guaranteed to work, but if it fails you could just go by whoever won the second game or something.

It's kinda arbitrary, but I don't think it's any worse than using a TDM to settle a CTF tournament.

If the player scores are potentially going to determine who wins, some people will just play for flag return points on servers where they are enabled (so basically they would stand in a corner and wait for the attacker to grab the flag. This happens plenty of times even in regular matches...).
Since TDM is a very fair way of determining the skill levels of the teams, I wonder why some would oppose a TDM tiebreaker, and opt for something arbitrary instead?

Also, what are the rules for map choice? Some teams may prefer Engine, others Soora.

Being good at TDM doesn't mean you are good at CTF.

It's unlikely that people would adopt a strategy to win the second level tiebreaker if it would hurt their chances of winning either outright or in the first tiebreaker.

What's Soora?

I am considering allowing to things for a first tiebreaker:
1. If you don't have time, you and your team may play a Team Death Match game up to 40 with your teammates against your opposing team.
2. The first two games may be played over for a chance for the winner to be declared again. However, if the two CTF matches end up in a tie again, a TDM game will be required to help find the winner.

If there is a disagreement, have a neutral party flip a coin/pick a random number from random.org
That will help you decide if teams cannot come to an agreement.

From what I can see, this appeals to most peoples choices.

One last note: If you have any ideas for future tournaments, feel free to post them.

Many players don't have the TX maps. If you would like to play a match on any map packs, you must confirm that all other players in the match has the map pack. I currently do not support map packs because I do not own any.

My last suggestion might be a sudden death NFL field goal style win. The first team to score a flag, (an admin can be asked to set the server to a goalscore of 1) would win the game and could post it on the site. Therefore, it is faster than actually playing another 3v3 and makes more sense than settling a CTF tourny with a TDM match.

I'd suggest doing it like Overtime rules in the NFL. Sudden-death style. If its a tie, they make a group decision as to where they play, and the set the match so that the first person to score 2 times in a row wins. If it cannot be accomplished in one match, the next match is played on a server from the other continent, same rules. If it is Eu vs US, the team with the ping disadvantage gets Trando to help compensate. If its US vs US, do a sudden death 1v1 between the players of your choice to a score of 1. First person to kill the other gets to pick what team they play on. Its not perfect, but its an idea. And it would result in only 2 full length matches, and only one or two shortened matches.

Lol, how original of you...

With the sudden death, there's still a matter of which server you play on.

Doesn't solve the map or server issue.

Only real solution is to make them play 2 more matches. Perhaps 2v2 instead of 3v3 to make it faster They don't need to play it the same day. Or you can make a ladder instead of bracket or make it TDM instead of CTF.

We've decided to eliminate any tie breaker games. Each team will have an equal opportunity to score no matter what server we play on, so the final will be decided on total score in the event of a tie.

We only need 3 more teams!
