Having played this game for years you should know there are no sonics on depot (yes I know you can get them from being close when someone dies and have them set as nades). When killing with shotgun it says something like "pumped full of plasma" which I believe is what you your screen shot says but in German.

So I'm going to guess, no he does not use sonics.

he did well in the first match (it was TDM), I mainly focused on pistol to see how he's playing and how hes going to deal with 2 ppl.
