As we all know, a lot of older players are coming back and there are rumors about ER tournaments being brought back to life... One major thing that anyone lacked was a tournament system, and our custom scripts wont be available until March 18.
Knowing all of this, I took the opportunity to grab a tournament script that supports tournaments and ladders so that we could attempt to bring back the competitive edge in the community. Ergo, I'm going to be asking all of you what you think we should name the site. Eclipticalrealms.com is already taken and unavailable.

I'm asking the opinion of the community before any site space or domains are bought. I was thinking -- since ecliptical isn't actually a word -- that we could use Ecliptic Realms.
I would like to ask for your opinions, though. What do you all think? It would need to have the ability to apply universally to all games, and need to be fitting for the site type(tournaments).

Obviously like recent tournament sites we will ask mappers to make some newer maps that arent just sniper city. There have been a few good maps that arent like that

You spelled it wrong. Elliptical Realms would legit mean realms in the shape of a circle.

Id have a few newer maps like that, they are in the RC mappack from last year. Also going to release a few more maps soon.

But Im wondering how you want to host a tournament for this game, where are all the clans that are supposed to take part? I can only think of TX, RC and HoR on the European side, and probably a few American clans that I dont know cause I played a total amount of 3 hours in the last 6 months.

But I doubt you can get more than ~5-6 clans to take part, maybe 3-4 that are also active, and then its going to be difficult to organize matches between US and EU players.

My suggestion: Save your time and dont do this. :)

Where is that coming from? I think ER is going to come back as much as 7DS is going to last longer than 3 weeks.

You don't play, yet you come here to bash ideas of other players? Why bother posting if it may not even matter to you. Obviously you have input. I respect that, but knowing nothing about the game gives you less of a right to say things would completely flop. There are always options of team tournaments/ladders. Individual games can work as well.
There is nothing wrong with giving RepCom a shot on the new site.

I know nothing of the game? I dont play much currently, thats right, but Im active in the community almost since the game is out (with some pauses). And even right now when Im not playing much, I am still talking to people, visiting forums, working on modding projects for this game.

Furthermore I have been the one who hosted the last 5 tournaments for this game (mostly Europeans, Americans always refused to play with a few exceptions). Those tournaments worked pretty well at the beginning, but the last 1 or 2 didnt, because the community kept getting smaller, and todays its even smaller than back in the time when I hosted the last tournament.

So I do know pretty much about this game, and Im very sure I can rather guess how this is going to end than you (no offense). And I dont want this to turn into an argument, I would have helped if you asked and gave better advice as well, my 1st post was just what came into my mind first when I read this topic.

When I read this:

I cant help it but have to think that you are the one who has no idea, there were 3 different websites hosting tournaments for this game in the last 2-3 years. Some worked better, others didint, I could tell you which have worked any why.

But you only seem to want "yeah awesome woohoo!11!" sort of feedback and no actual advice and seem to be instantly annoyed and feel attacked as soon as someone didnt start to cheer for your idea, so Ill just let you do whatever you want. Have fun.

I am not saying I'm awesome. I don't think my idea is flawless, nor do I think that this will work perfectly. There is a reason why I made this topic...

The way that you came off is that you don't play much anymore. Therefore, I thought that you weren't completely positive on what was going on. I am not trying to bash your ideas; I am just saying that it's worth a shot to bring some more competition back to this game.

The specific reason I say there is no tournament system is because, to the best of my knowledge, no one has come up with a site that automatically compiles all player statistics without using a spreadsheet of some sort to keep track of these. If you have a system like this, I would be happy to know about it.

Thank you for clarifying things though. I would appreciate talking to you before anything else happens.

Vash once had a pretty decent script for a tournament website, but he accidently deleted it when he moved to a new server.

He has just installed a new one on his server a while ago, but Im not sure if he actually wants to use it or not, I think it looks pretty ugly, but maybe its not completed yet - i dont know: http://tx-gaming.net/warzone/

But maybe hes able to find a better one, you should definitely talk to him anyway.

And dont get me wrong: Id love to see an active tournament in this game, I just dont fully think its possible anymore.

Someone told me that Vash wasn't very happy with the MGL gaming tournament system. I'm not sure how easy it would be to get some other scripts in here like the one that Lionheart just posted, but we could start testing all of them out. In the end we could always just customize them.

From what I can see, though, that demo doesnt show any tournament features.
