It'll take months or even years to make the particles they require to achieve the speed that they need. So technically the experiment hasn't finished. Just started.

erm, it's almost impossible for this thing to kill you.

Yes, it can cause a black hole, but black holes require a HUGE amount of energy to sustain itself, which CERN doesn't provide. So if a black hole does appear, it will just disappear is seconds.

It's 100% safe.

Not true.

That is only based on the Hawking Radiation Theory...So if he is wrong then we are dead.

Eh, lol. Some people were scared of this today in school. I think they're gonna need to spend a lot more than 4billion to destroy the universe, imo. ;P

I may be no geo/astrophysicist, but how is the black hole sinking to the center of the Earth?

I've learned a good deal about the Hawking radiation theory, and I suppose I'm in no position to confirm or deny its validity, but it seems sound to me. Plus, I trust most things that Hawking says to be true. [dunno]

I suppose if I had to pick any end to the world, this would be the coolest. Or, as they said in the article, it is like making a universe in a test tube. What if they actually did make a universe, and it was just like ours but we never realized it was there because it started spreading out till we couldn't measure the particles at all. The scale could even be getting smaller. It could be another universe, or it could even be our own, just at the beginning, all confined within that tube. Ehg, so many possibilities are sprouting. I find it interesting, especially the part about ripping space-time apart or whatever. Maybe it's like we're finding out something we shoulding find out about the universe and it's trying to protect its secret, etc, w/e, who knows.

In conclusion, I doubt that this talk of doom is true, but I almost hope people don't ride it off so soon. I could go for just a bit of excitement, and I have no idea why.

the size of all the protons crashing is like the same size (even smaller) as 2 fly's bumbing against eachother

But there's nothing to suggest that it's untrue...

mankind can not produce the amount of energy required to create a pencil destroying black hole whit the current tech at hand.

now when our sun gets smashed between 2 other suns that are bigger then our sun in a factor 9430504938590345804859034859043809 we could have a small black hole or just a really big bang!

either way we would not die of its cause cus it takes a long time, or we didn't see them coming.
