Im gonna buy a few gigs of ram, something idk a whole lot about. How many gigs would u reccomend to play cod 4 or cs:s, and run programs like autodesk maya and adobe after effects? im thinking of getting either 2 or 4... and is there a difference in ram speeds?

If your running Vista:

32-bit: 3gigs
64-bit: 4gigs.

I think I'm right it saying that Vista can only take a max of 4 gigs of ram so anymore is pointless. XP I don't know.

Just buy 4 Gigs of DDR2 800 RAM. It´s enough for the games and the programs.

@ Myst: 64bit-Systems can handle up to 128 Gigs of RAM

Sorry, it's not the games that haven't figured out how to use it, it's just Windows.

No Hyper-threading support. [giggle]

erm, yes, GTA4 and Far Cry 2 are using 4 cores

very funny to see, that my friend has a better graphic card but only a dual core and the game lagged around [giggle]

they still don't use it to its full potential

with better programming technique it shouldn't lag on a dual >.< the problem is they make one of the processors do most of the work and hardly delegate any calculations to the other one
