My computer started overheating at random times and turning off, so I got some of this and one of these Anyway... I took off the stock cooler, and I wiped off the old thermal goo. under the goo was a thick plastic sticker that said WARNING remove before use ARG... I put the new cooler on, and now the computer runs better. It still turns off randomly though... but it doesn't give the "shut down due to a thermal event" warning when I turn it back on. I went in the BIOS and looked at the cpu temp and it said 60C or so. Strange, because I can hold my hand on the heatsink and it's warm, but not really hot. It also said that the fan was running at about half of its full speed. I would think it would be going at the max if it was overheating. Any great ideas? |

the heat sink paste ( hope that is the name for it) is great, i have the same (up to 4°C cooler than no name ) but the cpu cooler...wow how gay, my friend has the same...better said, he had the same. tbh, its only a bit better than a standard cooler of intel...i dont know why the temperature is so high....did you overclock it? lol, you touched the heatsink....dude, the heatsink is here to split the temperature, you have to touche the cpu, for that you have to remove the cooler..if i touch my heatsink, it is cold my cpu cooler: Thermalright ultra-120 extreme with a 120mm Scythe Kaze-White LED cooler and btw, this is my friends one, who had the same gay cpu cooler like you: wooow, same cpu cooler like me, only in black and called Thermalright Ultra-120 extreme True Black with 2x 120mm AC Ryan NeoLED.....i want them too ^^ look at that what i found if you want to buy it: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... ythe%20120 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6835109125 70$ try a cmos clear, maybe you made something in bios... btw, my temp is 30 in bios, 40 in idle and about 50 while playing |

I'm just wondering why it just turns off faster now... it doesn't give the thermal event message when I turn it back on. I realize that I didn't get an amazing heatsink, but it should be a lot better than the old one with the stupid sticker on it, right? I tried the cmos reset by the way... |

errr i really dont know why you have 60° wait, do you mean Fahrenheit or celsius? |

I mean celsius. I put the old intel boxed cooler back on, and now it says 70c, but it doesn't shut down anymore. I really doubt that it's 70c in there, so maybe I have a bad diode? |

Yeah, bios. The motherboard doesn't seem to work with any software that I've found. Anyway, if the processor cooks, its a good excuse for new computer. Core 2 duos aren't nearly as hot as pentium D's , right? |
