an update on the subject... we will be able to have private thingy's only no pro mod and stuff

Quote:
Clans can set up private matches to do their training or what have you; all they lose is the ability to customize the game on a deeper level with mods and such. Infinity Ward sees the addition of solid matchmaking and community support like IW-run tournaments to the PC as a huge win, and not something that could be done under the old system.

Why not have both? West does not want to include dedicated servers alongside the custom-built backend, stating that it would just "bifurcate the community."

If you listened to the whole podcast, 402 said that it would be like a console set up pretty much, hopefully, it won't be the same as CoD4 on the console, cause there was shit all for customization on the console.

that will most likely be a private server option that you cant use in normal servers or matches unless turned on!

the lack of dedicated servers in the initial game has me wary enough to not buy it straight away

those who buy the game now in hopes of a patch later are being overly optimistic, and will probably end up disappointed

The whole reason they are doing this is to secure the game down from piracy and ultimately pave the way for paid DLC (map packs)

It's just like Starcraft II not having LAN support.
