First of all you should be using Ultimate Defrag http://www.download.com/UltimateDefrag-Freeware-Edition/3000-2094_4-10582157.html it's way better, second there's always a risk of failure/damage when doing anything extensive with hardware, but here the benefits definitely outweigh the risks :)

Myst actually has a good point here. Most known viruses can be traced back to the sys32, and it's better to get rid of the problem at its root. Deleting system32 would be my suggestion as well.

... why does everyone install norton ... personally i think it brings inn more virus's maybe try Ad-Aware Se personal, scans your entire computer for viruses and you can delete all the dangerous virus, e.g Trojans etc.
Also try installing windows live care one, or Ad-Watch. Personally try all these and they might help your suituation.
+ just use desktop cleanup wizard helps too make your pc faster also get rid of any pointless screensavers if you have any they also slow down your computer down. try theres + get rid of the damn sys32 it just fucked up...

+ stat is very true when he says every virus is tracked to your sys32 folder so yeh get rid of it.
